Mizoram elections 2018: List of constituencies, candidates and parties

GUWAHATI: A total of 209 candidates are in fray for the 40 seats in Mizoram assembly, the elections for which will be held on November 28.

There were 67 less candidates in the last election in 2013. In the state where women voters outnumber the male counterparts, there are only 15 women are among those in fray.

In 2013 there were just six women candidates and none of them had won. The state’s electorate is 7, 68,181 voters of which 393,685 are women and the remaining 374,496 are men.

Chief minister Lal Thanhawla fielded his nominations in his home turf Serchhip and Myanmar border Champhai South seats.

Congress and principal opposition party, Mizo National Front (MNF) have each fielded candidates in all the 40 constituencies while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated 39 candidates. BJP has so far contested five times in the past but has
never won a single seat so far.
