Ten-team Mizoram under-15 league starts on Saturday

KOLKATA: The Mizoram under-15 league will start on Saturday (August 4, 2018) at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Aizawl. The Mizoram under-15 league – which will be contested by 10 teams – will be held for a span of over four months.

This will be the inaugural edition of the Mizoram under-15 league. Every team will face each other twice in the league campaign. At the end of the league campaign, the top-four placed teams will progress to the semifinal stage of the tournament.

The matches -which will be of two halves of 35 minutes each – will be played at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium on Saturdays and school holidays. On the match days, all the 10 teams will be in action. The first round of league matches will take place on August 4.

“We want to put more emphasis on youth football which will ensure that our overall progress continues. We are very excited that our young footballers will have four months of proper competitive football to hone their skills. We hope this league will develop and generate future football stars,” PC Vanlalhruaia, who is the chairman of the Mizoram Football Association’s grassroots and youth development committee, was quoted as saying in an official press release of the Mizoram Football Association.

The 10 teams that will take part in the Mizoram under-15 league are Aizawl FC, Aizawl Grassroots Centre, Bawngkawn GSA, Chanmari FC, Competitors for Christ (Ramthar North), FC Stonzz (Armed Veng), Kanan FC, M 28 Academy (Republic Veng), Tata Trust COE and Sihphir Venghlun FC.
