Bangladesh PM condoles death of former minister Kalparanjan Chakma

Former Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Minister of Bangladesh and Awami League leader Kalparanjan Chakma died at a city hospital on 25th July.

He breathed his last at Community Medical College Hospital at Moghbazar around 12 noon.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has condoled his demise. In a message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed profound shock at his death and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family members.

When Kalparanjan was minister of CHT Affairs, Chakma tribal insurgents kidnapped a Briton and two Danes in Chittagong Hill Tracts in February 2001 and he was one of the two government negotiators who had secured the release of the foreigners.
