Veteran political leader, Pranab Kumar Chakma, Member of District Council in the Chakma Autonomous District Council in Mizoram died of cardiac arrest last night at about 12:15 am. He was 58 years. Family members confirmed that he was all fine and had no health related issues.
He was elected MDC for the fourth time from Ugudasury ‘S’ MDC Constituency in the recently held 10th CADC General Election with MNF party ticket.
“His political career spans over 30 years and was elected as MDC four times. He contested for the first time in 1988 with INC ticket and become Executive Member of 4th CADC. He again won in 1998 with INC ticket and later switched party to join the MNF. Under the sponsorship of the MNF party he won two terms in 2003 and 2018”, a statement from the CADC government said.
He is survived by his five daughters three of whom are married and two are still studying. He was born to (L) Shri Rameshya Chakma and (L) Smt. Janjali Chakma.
To mourn the tragic loss, the CADC government has declared holidays for two days. The mortal remain will be cremated tommorrow.
