Famous Indian footballer from Mizoram, Jeje Lalpekhlua, has been appointed as the Brand Ambassador for the Department of Tourism, Government of Mizoram.
“I feel honoured and privileged to be appointed as the Brand Ambassador for the Department of Tourism,Mizoram.. It surely is a new step for me and let’s hope and wish for a progressing tourism in our state,” Jeje announced on Twitter today.
Jeje is a well known footballer and plays for Chennaiyin in Indian Super League.
He has fans across the country. It is interesting to know that he had sent a message to the All India Chakma Students’ Union (AICSU) wishing “good luck” for their “Bizu Football Cup” played in Delhi in April 2017.
Mizoram is gradually becoming a popular tourist spot because of its natural beauty, pleasant weather and extremely hospitable people. Hundreds of Indian and foreign tourists visit Mizoram every year. On 28th March 2017, Mizoram Tourism Minister John Rotluangliana informed the state assembly that 770 foreign tourists visited the state in nine months from April 2016 to January 2017.
Recently, in a significant move, the Union Home Ministry allowed the foreigners, except those from Pakistan, China and Afghanistan, to visit Nagaland, Mizoram and Manipur without any permit.
It is hoped that the appointment of Jeje Lalpekhlua as Brand Ambassador has come at a right time and will boost tourism in Mizoram.
