The liquor factory which the Mizo National Front said was being set up by State government of Mizoram was actually being set up not by the state government but by the Chakma Autonomous District Council government in South Mizoram, Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla clarified on Friday.
Thanhawla’s denial came a week after the MNF had alleged that the State government was constructing a liquor factory at Chawngte ‘C’ or Kamalanagar on the Udalthana Road in CADC in Lawngtlai district.
“The liquor factory that the opposition MNF talked about seems to be the one which is under construction in south Mizoram’s Chawngte under Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC). The district council is not under the control of Mizoram government and the MLPC Act (Liquor law) does not cover the three ADCs in south Mizoram,” the Chief Minister said.
He added that the liquor factory was being set up by the CADC government which is autonomous and administration over there is not controlled by the state government.
