The swearing in ceremony of the newly elected members of the 10th Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) in Mizoram was held this morning at the Arts and Culture Hall at Kamalanagar. 11 MDCs were administered oath by Deputy Commissioner of Lawngtlai Mr N Chakhai.
They included 8 from MNF, 6 from Congress and 5 from BJP.
Shanti Jiban Chakma will be sworn-in as Chief Executive Member of the first ever BJP-led government in CADC today at 3:00 PM.
Unexpectedly, arch rivals Congress and BJP formed alliance to rule the CADC.
After days of speculation, on 2nd May, the Governor of Mizoram invited the traditional rivals the BJP and the Congress to form government in the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) in Mizoram. Governor Lt Gen (retd) Nirbhay Sharma invited the United Legislature Party (ULP), an alliance of the BJP and the Congress, to form the executive committee and appointed ULP leader Shanti Jiban Chakma of the BJP as the Chief Executive Member of the Council.
