The issue of sudden transfer of popular IAS officer Dr Arun T from Deputy Commissioner of Lawngtlai to Secretariat in Aizawl as Special Secretary of Mizoram refused to die down.
On 12th April, Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla said the issue of transfer of Dr Arun T will be decided after the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) elections.
The CADC elections will be held on 20th April and results will be out on 24th April.
A controversy erupted after then Deputy Commissioner of Lawngtlai, Dr. Arun T was suddenly transferred on 22nd March, the day CADC was suspended and Governor Rule was imposed. The Governor of Mizoram had acted based on reports from Dr Arun T who found misgovernance and alleged corruption in CADC.
Many NGOs including students bodies objected to the transfer of the popular DC. Many alleged his transfer was politically motivated.
But on 2nd April, the Chief Minister’s Office stated that Dr Arun T had only about 5 months of service left in Mizoram and therefore the state government wanted to utilize his service as a special secretary in the secretariat.
