Accusing the previous Left government of spreading Marxist propaganda during its 25 years rule, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb announced yesterday that his government would soon introduce NCERT textbooks in the state-run schools in Tripura.
He said this while speaking at the first NITI Aayog meet for the Northeast that was held in Agartala on Tuesday.
The BJP Chief Minister said the Communists only wanted the people of Tripura to study Mao Zedong. “Students were being taught Karl Marx and Hitler but nothing about Indian freedom fighters,” he said, adding that they even removed Mahatma Gandhi from textbooks.
“I am going to implement NCERT syllabus in all these schools which will also have chapters on Tripura’s history,” he said.
