Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla will be arriving at Kamalanagar, headquarters of the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC), via helicopter on 17th April to give fillip to the election campaign in favour of his Congress party, a well placed source told The Kamalanagar Times.
The Congress is seeking to retain the Chakma Council once again.
The Chief Minister’s entourage could include some Ministers from his Cabinet.
In addition, prominent Congress leaders from Lai and Mara Autonomous District Councils are also expected to be present during the high-voltage campaign of the Chief Minister.
Election fever has already gripped the people of the Chakma Council which goes to polls on 20th April. All candidates are on the field trying to woo the people’s faith.
This time, a total of 65 candidates are in the fray for 20 MDC seats. The poll results will be declared on 24th April.
Congress candidate from Fultuli, Kali Kumar Tongchangya has already won the elections uncontested after his opponent from the MNF party was disqualified during scrutiny of nomination on 5th April.
